GRAPE HARVEST 2 – THE POWERFUL START OF THE 2017 RED WINES

The grape analyses are clear: the three weeks early of this harvest remain constant for red wines too. Concentration and texture will not be lacking and the tannins will certainly be mature. In the case of the red vines too (Grignolino, Barbera, Freisa and Nebbiolo) the bunches and the grapes remained small. The vines which were stressed (and a little stress is good for them too!) by drought and heat concentrated their strength to produce a small amount of healthy and mature grapes. At the end of August, we started picking the first bunches of Barbera and Grignolino: certainly, if maturation continues to be unstoppable we will end the harvest when we previously started it. It is still difficult to predict what the result will be but we will not fail to keep you up-to-date about this strange 2017 vintage!
