The Relais of Tenuta Santa Caterina, an integral part of the homonymous winery, an architectural complex dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, completely restored respecting the environment, is at the center of the area historically known as Monferrato. A landscape of rolling hills that in their conformation remember that this same territory was once under the sea. The land retains traces of this era in the geological shells that emerge when working the vineyard.
At the height of the hills interspersed with small valleys, rank the countries, recognizable from the church that occupies the highest point, marking the horizon. And there are countless castles, the memory of an uncommon historical richness.
Spectacular, especially in the clear spring days, is the vision of the Alps, with the pyramid of Monviso and the sequence of peaks that form the bulwark to cold winds from the North.
Between the Alps and the hills stretches the plain, which is transformed into an immense lake in spring: the paddy, an agricultural heritage of Piedmont, where they grow rice varieties among the finest in the world.
It is no coincidence that this area is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The Relais of Tenuta Santa Caterina has that and more to offer, the pleasantness of spring blossoms, summer mitigated by the breeze that comes far from the sea, the autumn harvest, the silence of the winter.
