The Sagre Festival is a unique event in Italy. In the big Piazza Campo del Palio there is a real village (with masnry houses, the church, the town hall and even the Post Office) where from 7 p.m. on Saturday 9th September more than 40 town of Asti will present their typical dishes accompanied by wines offering a complete view of the great gastronomic tradition of this part of Monferrato. On Sunday morning the great parade in the historic center with more than 3.000 vintage dressed people, hot-headed tractors, animals and tools of ancient crafts recalls the various moments of countryside life between the 19th and the 20th century in an extraordinary and curated representation that follows the season of the year. A tip: look for Grazzano Badoglio, you will find the classic Soma d’Aj…a delicacy!
