As it does each year, Tenuta Santa Caterina takes part to the selections of the Guide edited by the best Italian wine experts. Recently we have finally had the honour of discovering the results of our wines in these 2018 editions.
Our Arlandino 2015, Grignolino d’Asti DOC, received 90 points from Luca Maroni, in the Guide “Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani”, and 90 points from Daniele Cernilli, in the DoctorWine’s Guide. It also obtained the result of “Two Hearts” from the German magazine Merum, which every year selects and reviews all the best Italian wines.
Our Salidoro 2015, Monferrato Bianco DOC, obtained 90 points from Luca Maroni, in the Guide “Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani”, and VignaLina 2014, our Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore, obtained 91 points in the same guide. The Setecàpita 2013, Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore, as well as 91 of the Best Italian Wines of Luca Maroni, goes to the final in the selections of Gambero Rosso and is in the guide with the Two Red Glasses. But our Freisa d’Asti DOC Superiore, Sorì di Giul 2013, has amazed us giving great emotions. In fact, it has achieved the highest scores like 93 points in DoctorWine’s Guide, 94 points from Luca Maroni and the Golden Star in the Guide “Vini Buoni d’Italia”. However the top award which we aspired to as the index of excellent quality, is the “5 Grapes” of the Bibenda Guide won by our Sorì di Giul 2013.
We are proud to share these excellent results with you in the hope that they will be even better in future; results that are improving in particular for the autochthonous vine varieties of which we had lost track in past. We are talking about Freisa and Grignolino, historical grapes that are improving vintage after vintage giving us at Tenuta Santa Caterina pride and also the strength to continue improving our wines year after year.
